Distance Measurement on a Map
Marea makes it simple to measure distance between any points on a map. Whether you’re measuring a property boundary, a perimeter, or the distance between two locations, just drop pins and get instant results.
How to Measure Distance
- Navigate to your location — Use the map or satellite view to find your area of interest.
- Drop your first pin — Tap where you want to start measuring.
- Add more pins — Each new pin shows the distance from the previous point, plus the total distance.
The measurement updates in real time as you add or adjust points.
Distance Units
Measure in whichever unit suits your needs:
- Meters (m) — Construction, short distances
- Kilometers (km) — Roads, longer distances
- Feet (ft) — Property lines, US/UK measurements
- Miles (mi) — Road distances, regional measurement
- Nautical miles (nmi) — Maritime and aviation
Switch between units with a single tap.
Common Uses for Distance Measurement
Measure Property Lines
Trace the boundary of any property on the satellite map to measure each side individually and the total perimeter. Useful for fencing estimates, boundary disputes, and property assessments.
Measure Perimeters
Drop pins around any enclosed area and Marea calculates the full perimeter distance along with the enclosed area.
Construction & Site Planning
Measure distances between structures, road frontage, setback distances, and utility runs. Get accurate measurements without leaving your desk.
Fencing Estimates
Trace the boundary where you need fencing installed and get the total linear distance. Use this to estimate materials and costs.
Distance + Area Combined
Unlike basic distance tools, Marea calculates both distance and area simultaneously. When you trace a boundary, you see:
- Distance of each individual segment
- Total perimeter distance
- Enclosed area in your chosen unit
This makes Marea far more powerful than simple point-to-point distance tools.
Accuracy
Marea uses high-precision map coordinates for distance calculations. The accuracy depends on how precisely you place your pins — zoom in closely and use satellite imagery for the best results.
