Acreage Calculator by Feet

Know the dimensions of your land in feet? Enter the length and width in feet below and this calculator instantly returns the acreage — along with square feet, square meters and hectares. Perfect for rectangular lots, fields and plots.

Length × Width → Acreage

Total area 0.918 acres

Assumes a rectangular plot. For irregular shapes, measure on a map instead.

How to Calculate Acreage from Feet

For a rectangular plot, acreage is calculated in two steps:

1. Square feet = Length (ft) × Width (ft) 2. Acres = Square feet ÷ 43,560

For example, a lot that is 200 ft × 200 ft is 40,000 square feet. Divide by 43,560 and you get 0.918 acres.

Common Lot Dimensions in Acres

Dimensions (feet) Square Feet Acres
50 × 100 5,000 0.11
100 × 100 10,000 0.23
100 × 150 15,000 0.34
150 × 200 30,000 0.69
200 × 200 40,000 0.92
208.71 × 208.71 43,560 1.00
300 × 300 90,000 2.07
660 × 660 435,600 10.00

A perfectly square one-acre lot measures about 208.71 ft on each side.

When to Use This vs. a Map

This calculator assumes a rectangular plot defined by a length and a width. That’s ideal for regular building lots and fields. If your land is irregular, angled or has more than four sides, measuring it directly on satellite imagery is far more accurate — use the acreage calculator map to trace the real boundary, or the four-sides acreage calculator if you have four different edge lengths.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate acres from feet?

Multiply length in feet by width in feet to get square feet, then divide by 43,560 to get acres. For example, 200 ft × 200 ft = 40,000 ft² ÷ 43,560 = 0.918 acres.

What are the dimensions of one acre in feet?

One acre is 43,560 square feet. A square acre measures about 208.71 ft on each side, but an acre can be any rectangle whose sides multiply to 43,560 — for example 100 ft × 435.6 ft.

How many acres is 100 x 100 feet?

A 100 ft × 100 ft plot is 10,000 square feet, which equals about 0.2296 acres.

Does this work for irregular land?

This calculator assumes a rectangle. For irregular or many-sided plots, measure the boundary directly on a map with the Marea acreage calculator for an accurate result.
