KML Export & Import
Marea lets you export your area and distance measurements as KML files — the standard format used by Google Earth, GIS software and other mapping tools. You can also import KML files into Marea to view and measure existing geographic data.
What Is a KML File?
KML (Keyhole Markup Language) is an XML-based file format for displaying geographic data in mapping applications. It was originally developed for Google Earth and is now an international standard maintained by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC).
A KML file can contain:
- Points — Individual locations with coordinates
- Lines — Paths and routes between points
- Polygons — Enclosed areas with boundaries
- Metadata — Names, descriptions and measurements
How to Export KML from Marea
- Create your measurement — Draw an area or measure distances on the map.
- Save the measurement — Give it a name and save it.
